Title: Ian Cook

Genre: Poetic Documentary

Duration: 3 Minutes

Outline: The documentary is about Ian Cook who is an artist who paints with cars and takes the idea of painting to another level. The documentary will be about the journey of his career path and how he started up as an artist and what influenced him to work in this style of art.

Scene 1

The opening scene will have the camera tracking Ian into his studio, showing the location (Fargo Village) and the lively atmosphere of the area. Then the camera will move into the studio and have a pan shot to see what the studio looks like. Ian will draft out his painting and we will fill this with close up shots and mid shots to show the details and the journey of his creation. Throughout the whole documentary we will be using Ian’s voice as the voiceover and he will talk about his journey on how he became a successful unique artist.

Scene 2

The second scene will be showing the progress of his painting. The camera will be using several shots to enhance the process of his artwork for example, pan shots to see the movement of paint. Some of the shots will be shot in 60fps so we can get steady the slow motion effect. There will be go pros on the cars so it will capture different angles, we will be using two one on the side and one behind to show the movement and trail. At this point Ian would have told us the beginning of this career path and now moving on to how he started using cars as paintbrushes.

Scene 3

The third scene will consist of shots around the room showing his previous artwork and his studio. This would show the audience the type of person he is ‘artistic/creative’ etc. Also in this part I think it would be visually good to focus on his face as well as the painting to show his expressions. As when he talks he is very passionate about the work so when he is painting his expressions will show the love he has for cars and art.

Scene 4

The fourth scene will start to wrap up the painting and the cameras will be placed at certain angles to show the final piece. We were hoping to use a drone to capture the full piece, however as there is low lights it would not be possible. So instead we could use a go pro and attach it to a selfie stick. At this point Ian would have wrapped up his voiceover and covered his journey in this creative field.

When we look at the global music scene we usually see that the chart mostly consists of North American artists and a British artist here and there. There are 193 other countries in the world who are just as talented if not more than the ones that we hear in the clubs or radio so why don’t they get the same recognition? My idea is to make a 3-minute documentary on my cousin Abdikarim who is a well-known rapper in Sweden going by the name Smokey Rox. I’m interested to find out what he thinks about the difficulties for Swedish artist to get the same level of recognition as Americans
